Charlie’s & The Coincidental Connections

Have you ever visited a new destination and found yourself coincidentally connected to it in a way you never expected? You know, you visit somewhere you’ve never been before and meet someone you’ve never met who just happens to be from the same small town you’re from. Or, you attend an event and learn that the speaker, who is a native of the town you’re visiting, just so happens to now live in a town very close to where you live. I’ve had the experience of coincidental travel connections pretty often but never as much as on one late afternoon at Charlie’s Bar and Restaurant in Aruba.  Continue reading »

Golden Weekend NOLA

Golden Weekend is what I call that one weekend a year (usually) when the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints football teams both play home games the same weekend. LSU’s team colors are purple and gold and the Saints colors are black, gold and white/cream; hence the name, Golden Weekend. And, for the unfamiliar, the cheer for the LSU Tigers is “Geaux Tigers”, Geaux for “Go”, being a play on the French spelling of names and words that end with an “o” sound as  “eaux”.  Even LSU Coach Orgeron’s name was shortened to an endearing, “Coach Oeaux”.  For fans of both the LSU Tigers and the New Orelans Saints, it is truly a golden football weekend.    Continue reading »
